Crescenta Valley High School has an "open lunch policy"
which permits students to leave campus during the lunch period. This open lunch policy is in jeopardy
due to numerous complaints from the community regarding student behavior and
trash being left behind. Students
must either eat lunch at the restaurant at which they purchase their food or
return to campus to eat. In order
to preserve the open lunch policy, students are expected to throw all their
trash away at the restaurant or on campus. In addition, students may not loiter in their cars or in
front of neighbor's houses.
Students may not congregate in the student or staff parking lots. Any area that is off limits to the
public is also off limits to students.
During lunchtime all school rules and consequences apply to students
whether they are on or off campus.
Given the size of the student body, at almost 3,000
students, and the number of exits, it is not possible for the school
administration to monitor who is leaving campus. It is up to individual families to decide whether or not it
is appropriate for a student to leave campus for lunch. There is plenty of food on campus and
many students choose to stay during the lunch period. If you choose to have your son/daughter remain on campus
during lunch and you would like to make the school aware of this decision,
please complete this form and return it to the student's second period
teacher or to the Assistant Principal’s Office.
